Artist Statement
A small, solemn oil on panel, painted with the hushed reverence of a funeral bell.
At the center, under a perfectly transparent glass bell, stands a single blood-red rose in the final stage of surrender.
Its petals have curled inward like burnt parchment, edges blackened and crisp, yet the heart still clings to a bruised, arterial crimson, as though the flower refuses to die entirely.
Beneath it, a scattering of once-golden leaves and tiny dried blossoms lies in a soft, brittle heap (fossilized confetti from a love that has already happened and ended).
The bell jar itself is rendered with aching clarity: every breath of light on its curved surface is a cold, merciless spotlight that both protects and imprisons. Outside the glass, only darkness (a velvety, absolute black that presses against the dome like deep water). Inside, the rose is lit from some invisible source, glowing faintly from within, a last ember in a sealed tomb.
There is no motion, no air, no hope of resurrection.
Only the exquisite agony of something beautiful preserved at the exact moment it becomes memory.
