Artist Statement
A hushed, almost reverent still life, painted with the velvety softness of airbrush and the patience of a dream.
The color world is a single slow exhale of crimson: a tall, gleaming copper pitcher (its surface molten with reflected rose light) stands sentinel at the back, while in the foreground a tumble of ripe apples glows like embers caught in silk.
One apple has escaped the bowl and rests alone on the warm wooden ledge, its skin lacquered in scarlet and gold, a single highlight blazing white as a struck match.
Beneath everything, a heavy drape of deep magenta cloth pools and folds like spilled wine, its satin folds catching secret glints of light that travel across the canvas the way slow thoughts travel across a quiet mind.
The background dissolves into a misty rose-gray haze (no edges, no corners), only the suggestion of an infinite, breathing space that refuses to disturb the objects’ solitude.
The entire scene is suffused with a diffused, womb-like warmth, as though the painting were lit by a single hidden ember floating somewhere just out of frame.
There is no harsh shadow, no dramatic chiaroscuro; only an intimate, crepuscular glow that makes metal, fruit, and fabric feel equally alive, equally fragile.
It is desire made visible and then immediately softened, like a heartbeat remembered in the dark.
